The Mifflin County School District Board of Directors has new president for 2017.

During its annual reorganization meeting on Thursday, the board unanimously elected Terry Styers to serve as board president for the next 12 months.

Elected to serve, as vice-president was Kristen Sharp.

Also, the Juniata County School District Board of Directors elected a new president and vice president at their board meeting Thursday evening.

The board nominated and approved Mark Wagner to serve as president and Amy Wagner to serve as vice president.


On Saturday the annual Kiwanis Christmas parade kicks off at 1 p.m., in Downtown Lewistown. The parade route will include Third and Market streets.


A Red Cross blood drive will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday at Ohesson Manor, at 276 Green Ave.

Bring a photo ID and remember to eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to making a blood donation.

The 20th annual Juniata River Valley Festival of Ice continues today in downtown Lewistown.

This year, the theme is, “Honoring Our Military,” as a salute to all American soldiers.

The theme will be represented throughout the festival — from the ice sculptures on the sidewalks to the decorations on the Mifflin County Historic Courthouse.

The following streets in Lewistown will be closed to traffic and parking: Market Street from Grand to Brown, and North and South Main Street from Monument Square to the alleys. Parking is available on side streets and in the following public parking lots.
